The Health and Safety Advisors primary responsibility is to identify operational, physical and environmental factors that may cause or contribute to accidents or injury to staff, tenants, and visitors, to guide the Rogers Groups of Companies toward achieving and, where appropriate, exceeding compliance with Federal legislation. Additionally, the Advisor will act as a source of guidance and information for the Health and Safety committees and Human Resources departments, management and technical staff.
The Health and Safety Advisor will be based inMontreal, covering Quebec and Atlantic Canadaand will report to the Manager, Health and Safety, (Regional Support, Corporate Real Estate and HR).
1. Project Management
:Provide Health and Safety support to Operational Managers and Health/Safety Line of Business Managers in the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting on strategic projects across the organization.
:Primary mentor and support for Health and Safety Committees in the region.
:Act as safety resource person for the transfer of relevant knowledge to stakeholders and providing support to meet existing, new and changing requirements.
:Provide expertise on proactive management of hazards and risks to management teams and employees in the region
:Maintain expertise in applicable health and safety requirements and industry practices, and their impact on operations
3. Safety Management Systems
:Support the investigation, reporting, tracking and close:out of workplace incidents in the region
:Support operational groups at assigned locations to maintain compliance with Rogers legal and other occupational health and safety requirements
:University degree, preferably in Human Resources (Health and Safety);
:5 years of Health and Safety experience
:Specialized safety experience in audit and field operations is an asset;
:Experience in the telecommunications industry is an asset;
:Strong written, presentation and verbal communication skills;
:Proven ability to work independently, to take initiative and be resourceful;
:Possession of, or working towards, CRSP designation is an asset;
:Strong computer skills with knowledge of Windows applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint;
:Strong computer skills with health and safety databases, software systems and tools is an asset;
:Ability to travel within their assigned region;
:Possession of a valid driver's license;
:Candidates with a real passion for Health and Safety, protecting people/assets and high problem solving skills are encouraged .
