Responsible for achieving a high standard of accuracy, efficiency and compliance in the full aggregated production of the organizations Canadian and US payrolls in accordance with all collective agreement and legislative requirements, while ensuring adequate edits, controls and audits are developed and maintained to contribute to the integrity of employee information and fiscal management of the organization. Coordinates and executes the plan for the annual taxation reporting cycle (T4s, Releves, W2s etc.) and ensures complete reconciliation of the payroll system details to all third party remittances, Canada Revenue Agency, US Federal and State reports and remittances, and other accounts, as required.
:Oversee the overall back:office payroll production function, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of all Canadian and US payrolls and ensuring appropriate checks / balances and reporting are completed in accordance with prescribed timelines and procedures (GAAP, SOX, etc.).
:Maintain and review regularly the integrity, reliability, and timeliness of payroll and related information that has been input by the front:office representatives and specialists, ensuring strict adherence to statutory and other company reporting requirements.
:Execute the payroll run ac ulation files; validate all aggregation aspects of the inputs from the various sources; exercise control to ensure all inputs are accounted for; run the payroll staging process; and, approve and execute the final time loads from the time and labour system.
:Complete the Payroll Confirm process and perform the reconciliation of final payroll results (including gross to net payroll balancing).
:Recommend approval of the final payroll expenditure for the pay period and execute the bank transfer process containing all employee direct deposits
:As a super user of the system, support other users by writing queries in support of both front:end and back:end reporting support / coordination / enquiries
:Coordinates all year:end validation and production, including developing the predictive actions pertaining to accuracy with PIER reporting,
:Coordinates with the Payroll Manager, the processing of all bulk updates and off:cycle runs (retro, bonuses, relocation payments, etc.)
:As a key stakeholder, assisting in the payroll production and year:end systems enhancement requests, upgrades, tax releases, compliance, changes to CBA, etc.
:Regularly participate in business continuity and operational planning activities
:Develop tools and follow best practice methodologies for all aspects of payroll operations and year:end processing.
:University Business degree or technical diploma in related field ( HR or Finance)
:CPM designation ( Canada) and/ or CPP designation (Certified Payroll Professional : US) is highly preferred
:4+ years progressive payroll experience in a fast:paced and ever:shifting service environment involving a complex union / non:union working environment, plus covering multi:provincial organizational entities
:3+years working knowledge of PeopleSoft (Oracle) Payroll for North America desired with experience preferred with the HCM Release 9.1, a
