Reporting to the Optical Transport and Wireless Radio Access Manager in the Network Operations Centre (NOC), the NOC Specialist is responsible for fault/trouble management, optical network surveillance and network management of the Rogers National Wireless and Wireline networks in a 24/7 shift rotation environment.
The NOC Specialist functions include the following:
:Ensure all Network elements, Backbone facilities and POPs are monitored and maintained for proper operation
:Ensure network alarms and events are responded to as per guidelines
:Ensure network troubles are managed until resolution while adhering to the TTR guidelines
:Perform disaster recovery/pre:plan implementation
:Interface with next level Technical support as necessary
:Act as first level escalation for network troubles reported into Network Management
:Provide timely updates to all stakeholders
:Write and/or contribute to incident reports for any major outages
:Write and do ent any department procedures needed for troubleshooting
:Ensure successful completion of assigned projects
:Degree in Electronics/Telecommunications or equivalent academic qualification
:Minimum of 4:6 years experience in a Network Management environment is preferred
:Extensive knowledge of the following is required: Optical Transport, Cienna/Nortel SONET and DWDM, Alcatel SONET, Alcatel DACS, Fujitsu SONET and DWDM, Remedy ticketing.
:Experience with Fujitsu 7500, 7120 and 4500 as well as with Nortel CPL is an asset.
:Knowledge of Wireless Radio Access is an asset : Ericsson, Huawei
:Understanding of the fault/trouble management, notification and escalation processes is preferred
:Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
:Exceptional Organization skills, PC literate and extensive knowledge of MS Office suite.
:Ability to thrive in a dynamic 24/7 environment
Available 24/7 for shiftwork.
