SEM:Hatch has been retained as the Engineering and Project Management Contractor for the Voiseys Bay Mine Expansion project. We are assembling a project team to be based in St. Johns and looking for Site Materials Lead. The Site Materials Lead provides expertise and direction for the materials management at site of the project. This role requires extensive knowledge in materials management setup at site and in the control of all equipment/material movement from receiving, warehousing and preservation up to free issue to contractor. The Site Materials Lead liaises with construction management, engineering, project controls and procurement disciplines and oversees the materials management activities of site purchasing, site expediting, site logistics and site materials planning and control.
The Site Materials Lead implements project process and procedures and oversees the execution of the site portion of materials management plan involving automated and/or manual materials management systems.
Although the Site Materials Lead assumes end to end responsibility for the project materials at site, the main focus is in the following areas.
Project planning and scheduling:
: Review the initial master schedule to ensure that equipment/materials will be available in support of construction requirements
: Monitor key milestone progress at site against the project implementation schedule
: Confirm material availability in support of constructions scheduled work plans
: Review any revisions issued to the master and detailed schedules to determine any impact associated with equipment/materials
: Coordinate with Site Lead Planner in the development of contingency plans and schedule updates
: Participate in site planning and scheduling meetings.
Site Materials Control:
: Implement and manage the Procurement Responsibility Matrix cross functionally with the site project team to ensure full adherence in the division of responsibilities between the client, EPCM firm, contractors and other partners
: Manage materials control process (receiving, warehousing, preservation and free issuance) at site for the control of all equipment/materials
: Assist in identification as early in the project as possible any surplus or obsolete materials and coordinate with engineering a materials substitution program to minimize final surplus, obsolete or scrap materials and monitor their disposition in accordance with project procedures.
Interfaces with construction management:
: Coordinate with construction the project schedule for identifying major equipment and bulk materials
: Coordinate with the Site Manager to ensure the full implementation of the construction plan for identifying on site fabrication, off site fabrication and off site modularization activities and the associated requirement for delivery of major equipment and bulk materials
: Review the construction schedules to ensure material availability requirements are compatible with engineering and procurement schedules
: Coordinate and ensure material availability in support of construction work
