Status: Regular : Part time
Salary: Group 5 : Unifor 899. Commensurate with education and experience.
Hours of work: Hours per week will vary. Overtime and shift work as required.
Reporting to the Manager, Engineering and Operations, this multi:skilled and motivated individual will be responsible for:
:Time overall show and individual components (including supers, reports, lives, interviews). Assist with constructing and maintaining computerized program presentation database.
:Operate switching equipment, character generator equipment and other associated technical equipment.
:Monitor and control audio and video signals, ensuring adherence to approved standards. Book feeds. Report errors and faults.
:Organize and rehearse all elements of the program to ensure personnel are prepared. Communicate clearly , with Producer, Anchor(s) and Crew
:Respond to technical program issues, make substitutions as necessary, assist personnel in solving problems.
:Inform crew and Anchor(s) of new developments or changes in the show.
:Other duties as assigned, which may include backing up or replacing the Automation Director or Co:ordinator on occasion.
:3 : 5 years experience as a successful leader in news production.
:Knowledge of, and practical experience in, all aspects of TV production (Switching, shot blocking, still and animated graphic production and news format development). Previous production automation is an asset.
:Exceptional computer skills, including full working knowledge of iNews.
:Proven ability, self:motivate and see the big picture. Superior planning, creative, negotiation and problem solving skills.
:Able to work under pressure and have demonstrated ability to react quickly and productively in a changing environment.
:Ability to work with minimal supervision and within a team environment with emphasis on internal assistance, while upholding professional standards.
