Sealaska Timber Corporation is seeking to hire an experienced Operations Supervisor to join our on:site Operations and lead our field activities. The Operations Supervisor will oversee the Operations Department areas in developing optimal harvest plans, supporting logistics, ensuring successful harvests, managing field work, and taking the lead in contractual and timber sale/purchasing areas. This person must be able to work independently with leadership teams as well as in remote locations when needed, including in adverse weather conditions, and difficult terrain. This is a salaried, full:time opening based out of our Ketchikan, AK, base office. No third parties or agencies at this time, please. Local candidates in or deeply familiar with the area in SE Alaska are very highly preferred.Manage all field work activities, including road building and logging activities, unit layout, timber cruising, woods QC, and contract supervision, and participate in them as necessary; oversee all company field assets, infrastructure, and construction.Ensure all operating permits are submitted and approved prior to harvest activities.Work with Controller in appraising and conducting pro forma on all timber harvest activities, including outside timber sale purchase opportunities.Participate directly in logging and road building contract negotiations. Have a good working ability of GIS, Excel and PowerPoint.Must be willing to travel to, and able to work independently in, remote and harsh environmental conditions, including extended time living in remote logging camps.Perform other duties as assigned.Forestry degree, either B.S or A.S., is required. Timber harvest contract negotiation experience a priority.Timber industry leadership/management, cruising, sale appraisal, and log marketing experience required.Physically capable to participate in extreme outdoor timber harvest activities.Must be proficient with computers and field data collectors.
