Bimcor is a wholly:owned subsidiary of Bell Canada established in 1983 with responsibility for the investment management of the pension plans of the BCE group of companies. Assets under management as of December 31, 2014 were approximately 15 Billion.
The Portfolio Accountant is accountable to the Controller
for controlling and accounting of all investment transactions (including derivatives, futures, swaps, currency hedges and private placements) managed by Bimcor and external managers hired by Bimcor on behalf of the Pension Funds and Pooled Fund clients.
The in bent is responsible for providing accurate and timely transactional and financial statements to the investment professionals in order that these individuals are able to make informed investment decisions. Specifically this responsibility would include:
:Liaison with the client trustees, external investment managers, and pricing providers and the clients themselves providing data, answering any queries, creating special requested reports or resolving discrepancies. (25)
:Reconciles and balances to the Trustee reports, resolving differences as they occur. Eagle Star, Viewfinder, My State Street and Eagle Pace are applications utilized in investigating discrepancies. (25)
:Lead on the centralization of all cash projection reports and acts as central point of contact for Money Managers regarding daily cash flow requirements for all accounts, and providing them timely and accurate reports. Reconciles and records the receipt of all investment income, trades, etc. (15)
:Preparing monthly financial statements for assigned accounts which include accrual, performance results and valuations; yzing and explaining any variances. (15)
:Assists in the supervision of the Investment Accounting Assistants daily activities. (10)
:Preparing the yearly draft financial statements accompanied by supporting do entation for the external auditors. (5)
:Assist in designing reports or queries that will facilitate various manual processes (5)
:Suggesting procedural improvements when the accounting software systems are upgraded.
Level of Education Required:
:Bachelor of Commerce degree with an Accounting major
Specialized Education in addition to above:
:Completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) is essential
:Completion of the Derivatives Fundamentals Course (DFC) is a plus
Work Experience Required:
:3 + years of investment/portfolio accounting
:Mature team player
:Excellent ytical and organization abilities with superior attention to detail
:Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
:Strong Computer skills: MS Office
