The Aboriginal Client Services (ACS) team provides professional, expert advice to First Nations and other aboriginal organizations to help them achieve their objectives and build financially successful communities. The junior accounting clerk will be responsible for maintaining full accounting records for our First Nations clients, data processing of transactions, and reconciling various accounts and general ledger balances of all the trusts.
Duties and responsibilities;
:Maintain a manual of relevant processes of the position
:Review and reconcile bank statements of the trusts on a monthly basis
:Review and reconcile investment statements of the trusts on a monthly basis
:Assist in preparing financial, budget and cash flow schedules and ysis as required
:Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and cash flow schedules for trust operations
:Assist in the preparation of year:end working papers file and reconciliation for trust auditors
:Prepare monthly Trust expenditures
:Update Budget to Actual and Status of Trust Funds for Trusts
:Update and maintain tracking of Trust Program Expenditures as applicable
:Track Trustee honorarium and Trust meeting places for purposes of annual T4 preparation
:Assist in other projects and support as required 13;

:Enrolled in/or completed diploma in accounting or bookkeeping
:Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
:Experience working with accounting software, preferably in Sage Simply Accounting
:Experience reconciling, bank and investment statements and general ledger accounts
:Strong attention to detail
:Excellent time management and organizational skills
:Ability to meet deadlines
:Calm positive attitude under pressure
:Ability to multi:task and prioritize duties
:Strong commitment to professional client service excellence
:Interpersonal relations and demonstrated ability to work with others effectively in teams
